Forward Chair Tony Adams to play in charity football match in memory Emma Urquhart
This special event is held in memory of Emma Urquhart, a much-loved Forward Trust staff member and dedicated Reach Out And Recover (ROAR) volunteer who played a vital role in supporting our recovery football group.
Though Emma is sadly no longer with us, her impact lives on in the community she helped build – and the lives she touched.
Our two teams
This second match brings together two teams both closely connected to Emma – ROAR Kent versus The Forward Trust. We’re grateful to Margate FC for kindly hosting this match at their fantastic ground.
We’re also delighted that Tony Adams, Forward’s recently appointed Chair of Trustees, will be playing briefly for The Forward Trust team as part of his tribute to Emma and the recovery community.
Tony’s involvement in this match stems from his recent Forward Trust roadshow where he has started to visit our support services as part of his formal induction. Tony was warmly greeted by Margate’s recovery community and our Thanet Hub – where the personal invite to play was gladly accepted!
With the spotlight firmly on Emma, this family-friendly event enables the wider Kent recovery community (including Forward services in Ashford, Canterbury, Dover and Swale) to celebrate the life of Emma in the most fitting way possible given her involvement in the recovery football group.
Family event
Whether you’re in recovery, supporting someone who is, or simply want to be part of something fun and meaningful — this is your invitation.
This will be a family-friendly day with plenty of activities for children – face painting, a penalty shootout and inflatables.
There will also be information stalls throughout for anyone interested in their own substance use use and is considering starting recovery.
Food and drink will be available to purchase (this is an alcohol-free event and there will be an alcohol -free bar)
