Modern slavery statement

This statement is made by The Forward Trust in accordance with Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and covers the financial year from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024.

The Forward Trust is a social business with charitable status that empowers people to break the ofteninterlinked cycles of crime and addiction to move forward with their lives. For more than 25 years we have been working with people to build positive and productive lives, whatever their past.

We believe that anyone is capable of lasting change. Our services have supported thousands of people to make positive changes and build productive lives with a job, family, friends, and a sense of community.

The Forward Trust workforce consists of full and part-time employees as well as volunteers, a significant number of whom have ‘lived experience’ of the services we deliver.

Our commitment

The Forward Trust is committed to ensuring that there is no modern slavery or human trafficking in its supply chain or any part of its business.

The Forward Trust is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all its business relationships and to taking reasonable steps to ensure slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in any business or organisation that has any sort of business relationship with the charity.

Due Diligence Processes for Slavery and Human Trafficking

The Forward Trust has a zero-tolerance policy towards slavery and human trafficking and expects all organisations in its supply chain and any contractors to comply with its values.

As part of its initiative to identify and mitigate risk, The Forward Trust has in place systems to encourage the reporting of concerns and ensure the protection of whistle-blowers.

The Forward Trust requires that all supply chain providers have suitable anti-slavery and human trafficking policies and processes as part of due diligence prior to contracting.

Training

The Forward Trust management team is responsible for compliance, each department head is responsible for its respective area and supplier relationships and have been trained accordingly.

All employees receive an induction into the business where its policies, procedures and expectations are outlined.

The Forward Trust Effectiveness in Combating Slavery and Human Trafficking

The Forward Trust uses the following key performance indicators to measure how effective it has been in ensuring that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in any part of its business or supply chain:

  • Use of labour monitoring;
  • Right to work documentation and payroll audits;
  • Audit of all Supply of Service Contracts;
  • Structured Contract Sign Off Processes.

The Forward Trust maintains a level of communication and personal contact with the next link in its supply chain to ensure the understanding of and compliance with its expectations, and this is agenda at Annual Contract Reviews.

The Forward Trust regularly reviews supply chain policies, codes of conduct and our working practices to show commitment.

This statement is made in accordance with section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes the Company’s slavery and human trafficking statement.

The Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is hereby approved by the Board of Directors of The Forward Trust Limited and all its subsidiaries.
