Community drug and alcohol services

Canterbury and Swale Service

The Canterbury and Swale service provides a full range of alcohol and substance misuse interventions for adult service users living in Canterbury, Swale, and surrounding areas.

Services include prescribed interventions, motivational enhancement, health checks, blood-borne virus testing, peer recovery pathway groups, Naloxone dispensing and needle exchange.

Covering the area from Faversham to the Isle of Sheppey, including Sittingbourne and all villages, Forward at Swale provides drug and alcohol treatment services at the main hub in Sittingbourne, a satellite in Faversham, one further satellite in Sheerness, as well as working closely with partner agencies locally.

Canterbury services are delivered across a range of satellite services in Canterbury, Whitstable, and Herne Bay.

Due to current service delivery limitations we are unable to provide any drop-in services for advice and support, however we can provide telephone or digital consultations if you are looking to access information, advice, or guidance.
Please note that our service is still open for scheduled appointments and our needle exchange programme. If you are displaying any COVID-19 symptoms such as.

  • High temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back
  • A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours
  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you have noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

We would ask you not to attend any appointments at our service, to contact your allocated worker to inform them and to follow NHS guidance.
