Bringing People Together

By Mo Farrell
Mo Farrell, Forward Trust's Corporate Communications Manager, provides a quick recap of The Recovery Walk (Hull)

The sun was shining on the Recovery Village and starting point for the UK Recovery Walk in Hull on Saturday 23 September. The Village was buzzing with people getting ready to set off on the two-mile walk around Hull to celebrate and raise awareness about the reality of recovery.

The Bridges – Hull is one of Forward’s two residential rehabilitation centres in the UK. It’s a beacon of hope for men and women who are ready to find recovery and make positive changes in their lives.

On Saturday, The Bridges – Hull stall was a beacon in a sea of people and stalls in the Recovery Village. It became a communal gathering point for all the Forward Connect members, volunteer and trainees who are part of our nationwide community of current and former clients making progress on their own recovery, and Forward staff, who had travelled from across the country to take part in the walk.

The walk brought together so many people, all at different stages of their own recovery, from current clients of The Bridges – Hull at the very early stages of their journey, to those who have been in recovery for a decade or more. All sharing their stories; listening, encouraging, supporting, and inspiring each other. Celebrating their own and others’ recovery and showing each other that recovery is possible.
