Liverpool Day Treatment

Service delivered in the community
We offer abstinence-based recovery support for individuals and families affected by drug and/or alcohol addiction.

Who we help

Our service is for people who:

  • Are aged 18+;
  • Live in Liverpool or the surrounding area; and
  • Have issues with drugs and/or alcohol or are impacted by the drug/alcohol use of a loved one.

Our structured day treatment programme is funded by Liverpool City Council. It is available to private paying clients as well as those who have private medical insurance.

How we help

Our Liverpool day treatment programme adheres to our Self Help Addiction Recovery Programme (SHARP) model, which involves 48 days’ attendance at our treatment centre in Liverpool’s L1 district over 11 weeks. Prior to admission, participants may choose either a 12 Step or cognitive approach to their treatment. This is a post-detoxification, abstinence-based programme, meaning participants must be abstinent from alcohol and drugs prior to commencing the programme. Pre-abstinence support is available for those who need it and an aftercare programme is available for those who complete treatment successfully.

Key elements of the programme

  • Assessment (by telephone or face-to-face)
  • Prison-based assessments
  • Interpersonal group therapy
  • Peer-to-peer support
  • Individual counselling
  • Relapse prevention training
  • Workshops and life-skills groups
  • Social and educational activities

Important information

Participants must have been both drug and alcohol free for a minimum of 24 hours prior to starting the programme. Supervised detoxification is not available at this location, however people may be referred to Clouds House, our specialist treatment centre, for medically supervised withdrawal prior to taking up a place on the programme.
