The Forward Trust starts delivering psychosocial substance misuse service at HMP Chelmsford

Forward are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the contract to deliver psychosocial substance misuse services at HMP Chelmsford.

The Forward Trust are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the contract to deliver psychosocial substance misuse services at HMP Chelmsford. The service goes live on 1st April 2021 and has been awarded by NHS England and NHS Improvement England.

The service will be delivered in partnership with CRG, who deliver the wider healthcare service at the prison.

The contract expands our existing delivery of primary mental health (IAPT), clinical substance misuse and employment services at Chelmsford. As such, it enables us to provide integrated, wrap-around support for clients with related mental health, substance misuse and employment needs, increasing our ability to help more people achieve productive and fulfilling lives – with improved mental and physical health – free from crime, drugs and alcohol.

The announcement comes at an exciting time for Forward, as we join forces with longstanding allies Action on Addiction. Facing a post-Covid surge in demand, these positive developments promise to help more people achieve lasting change.

Forward Trust CEO Mike Trace said: “‘We are delighted to begin delivering this new service – enabling us to offer a better support journey to prisoners with substance misuse, mental health and employment needs”
