It’s addiction awareness week
30th October to 6th November
So, from one addict to another
Let’s take a second and just remember
Society was somewhere we definitely didn’t belong
Our illness made you believe we’re bad people
But honestly, you couldn’t be more wrong.
Our illness destroys our souls
And rips any loving family apart
But we want nothing more than to get better
We need society to open its eyes and heart.
Our illness kills so many of us
With every single waking day
The local addict that you point at
His only crime is he lost his way
So, for once let’s all stand hand in hand
And take a second just to pause
Please think of the still-suffering addict
So we can heal from the damage it caused.
