Forward Kickstart Gateway
The scheme provides six-month work placements for young people aged 16-24 on Universal Credit at risk of long-term unemployment.
Funding available through the scheme covers 100% of the relevant National Living Wage for 25 hours a week, plus the associated National Insurance contributions, for each placement.
How we help
As an approved Kickstart Gateway, we offer the following options:
1. Comprehensive support
We handle all aspects of your application to the scheme as well as your Kickstarters’ training and support needs. This includes timetabled employability training, information, advice and guidance, job coaching and online support for your Kickstarters.
You’ll also be able to join our Partners and Employers Network, where you can access events, seminars and roundtable discussions aimed at finding solutions to shared challenges facing employers.
This option is ideal for employers who do not wish to apply directly to the Kickstart scheme and prefer to use a Gateway like The Forward Trust.
2. Employability training
We create a tailored support programme for your Kickstarters, focusing on developing the skills, experience and confidence needed to thrive in your organisation – leaving them ready for the next step in their careers. This includes timetabled training and guidance for the duration of their six-month placements. This option is for employers that are able to take on at least 30 Kickstarters or have used another Gateway organisation, but do not wish to deliver the employability support.
Additional funded support after Kickstart
To ensure Kickstart creates as many new careers roles as possible, we’re committed to supporting all the employers and Kickstarters we work with after placements end.
We offer free consultancy to develop an action plan, with support available from Forward’s Employment Services Division including:
- Additional employability training and qualifications
- Apprenticeships training
- Recruitment services
